October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we are dedicating this practice to those who have been impacted by this growing disease. It effects not just the patient, but the family, friends, colleagues of those patients, who are all part of the fight. Yoga plays a supportive role in cancer treatment by helping reduce stress, ease mood disturbance, improve sleep and ease fatigue, while building strength with low impact.
We will begin practice with intentional breathwork (Pranayama) to calm the mind, regulate the nervous system and improve physical health. From there, we will transition the grounding phase and begin a mindful warm-up, to build heat safely. The heart of the class features a fluid, step-by-step sequence that balances effort and ease. We will conclude with deep, cooling stretches and a restorative Savasana (final relaxation) to leave you feeling grounded, spacious, and deeply relaxed.
